Sir,
I am an Italian railway enthusiast, and I am a cooperator with an Italian historic railway magazine.
I have discovered the cooperation between italian and german firms to the Bong Mining Co. I wish to write an article about this forgot joint-venture, that I believe unknow to the majority of Italian rail enthusiast people. I know that a fleet of ore wagons were built by italian firm.
I ask if You can authorized to use your picture for my article (if possible in high definition file).
I am only a railway enthusiast, not a professional journalist, so I can offer only a copy free of the magazine with the article.

I lived in Liberia from 1975 – 1977 and remember what I think you might be calling “white clay people” because they weren’t dotted like the girl in this photo, but they were streaked with white mud all over their body (they were wrapped at the waist) and I remember mostly kids but also some adults. I saw them walking around at night (we lived near a river) and it was scary because the older kids in our expat community would say that when you saw them (the white clay people) you would soon see the witch doctor who would take us children away – we didn’t wait to find out. I have been scared of that for 40 years …. am so glad these photos and Liberian websites are opening up and explaining things. There’s really no one to talk to about it all, unless you go back I suppose.

I had a one for five years. She was called “Ida” she strolled freely. She wen’t on “walk about” and came back some days later.
this came about when my brother tock her for a walk on the lawn and forgot her. She was missing for about a week then one lunch (we always ate this on the piazza) the was something nibbling on our toes, and lord and behold there she was. After that she always strolled freely.
So she was a truly free living Turtle, living with us for five years, then one day she never turned up we missed her.
