I was in Monrovia and the Bomi Hills in November-December 1984, doing a review of a World Bank forest plantation project. I had a great time in the peaceful and cheerful countryside. At the end – I had a fright with some undercover police in a market in Monrovia (attempted shakedown or worse!) I was saved by market ladies and a UN driver.
