country photographer

Author: Gordon Spriggs

It amazed me that in 1970 itinerant, rural photographers were taking pictures in the same way it was done in the late 1800’s. First a picture was taken to produce a “paper” negative. This was developed and washed in a nearby stream. To produce a positive the paper negative was copy photographed by the same camera and processed the same way. Thus the finished positive could be sold a short time later.
